Navia
Navia is a Faroese wool with a story to tell - a story of Nordic and islander tradition and craft. From Tradition – a rugged yarn for hard working seafarers, to Uno – a light and soft yarn, perfect for delicate heirlooms for home and baby, Navia yarns tell the story of the Faroe Islands.
Navia yarns contains a wool mix of Australian lambswool, Shetlandic and Faroese wool as well as cotton and silk, making up a broad range of 1-ply, 2-ply and 3-ply knitting yarns, sock yarn and raw traditional Faroese yarn. The Navia sweaters similarly take inspiration from the traditional Faroese knitting culture, mixed with modern style trends.

100% Faroese Wool Aran/Worsted weight 100 gr / 200 mm
Gauge: 13 sts = 10cm (4″) using 5 – 6 mm needles
For more than a thousand years, the Faroese people have survived an uncontrollable climate in the heart of the tempestuous North Atlantic Ocean. Uncertain forecasts for the daily life of the Faroese – whether a fisherman, farmer or otherwise – have always brought about varied challenges. This has made the Faroese experts at utilizing the natural resources at their disposal. Here, the 70.000-odd sheep, grazing the 18 small islands, and still outnumbering the Faroese population by about a third, have proven to be particularly helpful, providing a significant advantage in the fight for survival, inspiring the centuries old custom of spinning wool into yarn, knitting and sewing – a tradition about making the most of the raw materials available.
